Trails hiked: Up from the Gunstock parking lot (where a fishing derby was taking place) on the Brook Trail up to Gunstock. Back down the Saddle Trail and up to Belknap. Checked out the views from the Firetower. Very hazy, but must be spectacular on a clear day. Back down the Saddle Trail. We then took the Overlook Trail, which isn't used as much down to some of the x-country ski trails and back at #15 on a horse trail to the car
Conditions: Hot, but there were coolish? breezes some of the time! Jeanie was able to cool off in the brook and any puddle that she found. We stayed as well hydrated as we could. Had lunch on the porch on Gunstock where there was a decent breeze.Met a hiker who gave us his maps. Nice guy! He had some more maps at home.
Good hike for a hot day. Found some beautiful clumps of Clintonia blooming in the saddle area. Great trails, fun friends, happy to check out this area. I have only hiked up Mt. Major. Will return to do some of the other trails on a cooler day!
