After an epic hike in the Presi's the day before, we decided to do a mellower hike and check out the Fire Warden's Trail. We parked at the end of Little River Rd and took the snowmobile trail and Haystack Rd (which is completely bare) to the North Twin trailhead. Two large blowdowns in the first tenth of a mile on North Twin Trail. I had not hiked Fire Warden's trail before, but having done some research ahead of time, the entrance was easy to find once I spotted the magic tree, and the trail was easy to follow just about the whole way. Snow patches started about 1/3 of the way up FW, top half of the trail was mashed potatoes galore with a very unstable monorail - too warm and super soft snow so snowshoes didn't help much for the five minutes I tried them - slid off the rail and occasionally postholed with and without them. Lost the trail for a bit by the left turn near the top with the Presi view, but eventually found it after 10 minutes of dead ends and a few vicious spruce traps. Hung out on the bare summit for a bit before heading down.

Hannah had a good day - she was sliding in the soft snow and postholed a bit but never seemed bothered by it.

Decent weather with clouds only showing up at the very end of the day. Nice day to explore this beautiful area - despite the typical frustrating spring conditions in places we had a great hike and had the mountain to ourselves. First 4k to get in all four seasons. Will definitely be coming back to FW trail in another season to hike it again :)
