trails: hancock notch trail

conditions: some snow in the trailhead lot that was melted off by afternoon. trails were all covered with wet sticky snow. about an inch to start and up towards 2 inches near the notch. this was mostly packed down by hikers over the course of the day and melted off in spots later on towards the start of the trail. mud in the usual places some of it partially frozen. brook crossings were all a non issue today. cleared all blowdown, but two easy large stepovers too big for my saw about .8 in from the road and partially removed another quite large one from the trail up near the notch to make it passable. will tackle the rest next season.

equipment: i tried using micropspikes for a bit to counter the slippery conditions heading up to the notch with mixed results. would have definitely brought them if heading to the summits.

comments: a nice day on the hancock notch trail. a bit cold and wet, but no precipitation while i was out there. having had good results in the spring by pushing a final clean up trip into november i did the same this year, but seem to have pushed it one week too many.... thankfully the ground was still not frozen so i was able to clear drainages despite the snow. good to be out.
