Hancock notch trail ,to cedar brook,to hancock loop
the hancock notch trail is in perfect shape even after all this rain,it has a gravel type base and is wide and smooth for a good portion of it.Water crossings were numerous and the farther you went the deeper and wider the got.It looked like you could usually go rock to rock, however I just walked in the water for most of them because the water was still shallow enough in places.THE trail was poorly marked at the water crossings, apparently because every one I met complained about not Knowing witch way to go.I went up the Hancock loop going left at the split and summited after a steep but breif climb up a nicely stepped path good views from short spur. views of summits ossecola's, I think.the loop trail over to the second summit was easy and quick, however it had some of the biggest mud bogs I've seen without bog bridges.Skirting them was unethical so I probed around for some submerged logs and Jesus waked it but every one else in my party walked around these" SUPER MUDDLES". Wooded second summit was a peakbag at best going down here was steep but fast caretaker was recutting water stops on this section
thanks.and nice dogs!we were out before 1:30
special equiptment: Poles for ballance on the many water crossings and mid hight hikers at least, xtra dry socks
comments: tracked some big moose, and the shrooms are out of control with all the moisture, I saw more than usuall to say the least. TRAILBLAZER
