4/21/12 - Low water crossings (pre-rain), not raining at the hairpin turn trailhead and extra headlamps just in case (I've learned not to expect too much from the Hancocks - HAH!) Anyway, it was a great day!!!! Bring snowshoes? Nah. Microspikes? check. Crampons? Nah. We put on/took off the micros several dozen times. At one point a really cool sheet of ice just BEGGED to be walked on... like a prop from "Wipeout" it teeter-tottered and SANK but staying upright was the game of the day. No falling today!!!

We came upon some fun partiers at one of the outlooks (think... Baileys and adequate supplies of Vodka and you get the picture!!! ;)) Not wanting to slip and slide any more than necessary from the ice, we politely declined their generous offer...

Here are a few shots so you see the ~challenges~ we were up against. Great company from Val and a really nice day!

A pretty good look at Arrow Slide. To think someone (not me!) skied it this winter - AMAZING!!!!

Frog eggs? I think someone posted a pic somewhere showing them.

A fun day!!!!

Follow-up question - anybody know why at one of those crossings (I didn't show it) there's that oil slick that never goes away? Would it be from some buried equipment or something naturally occurring???????

Hey BM,

I thought one reason to finish the grid was you never had to climb the Hancocks again or hike in April any more :)

VERY FUNNY!!!! :) it's the allure that keeps drawing me back. Now to just get that bushwhack east off the ridge done without a hitch...in April... then I can quit.... ;/
