Date of Hike: Sun 7/24/11
Trail Conditions: Dry with none of the boot-sucking mud reported all last summer. Almost no bugs - just a few gnats around 5 pm down low.
Special Equipment Required: poles esp for steeps if descending North Link - erosion and dryness spelled some slips and falls without them. And for water crossings even though they were easy.
Comments: Another fabulous weather weekend for hikers. Great views from the overlooks even if 180-degree or less. I'd feared this hike way more than I should given remarks of a friend who said it was way harder than the elevation gain suggests. A lesson for me as always in the beauty of a sport where progress means only putting one foot in front of the other toward whatever is most yearned-for - a metaphor that extends well beyond the peaks.
A shout out to the Rolfing expert and her friend who taught me compass orientation on the North Peak. Happy trails ladies!
