Encountered snow after first mile. Possible to avoid monorail for awhile. Last half mile+ before junction with Cedar Brook Tr more difficult with a few slips resulting on return. Difficulties eased after junction with Cedar Brook. Numerous water crossings, all easily crossed. Last two crossings before junction with Loop Tr required stepping on rocks on few inches below the surface. Put on snowshoes at junction of trails up North & South. MSR's were great with televators. I was following posthole tracks probably made over the weekend - it must have been very difficult. Monorail continued over ridge from South to North, again snowshoes lessened the difficulty. The route down from North was mostly dry with occasional ice. I wore 6 ptrs virtually the entire way down. Many small blowdowns along the route, all could be easily crossed or removed.
