Got a late start due to various meetings but just kept adding lights to my gear until I had 4. Drove in recommended route of King Brk Rd, Kimball Hill Rd, Heald Rd to 3rd parking area just before Keep Out signs. Heald Rd looked like it had been an icy mess until being drenched with sand.
Only a few inches of snow with crust, wet areas often not frozen underneath. Some trails had been packed out before the rain but most had not. I had helped make new trail signs for this area last summer but they hadn't been put up yet. The blazes were new but not visible from one another, and with unbroken snow cover it took some guessing to stay on the trail. Did short bushwhack to summit of Fisk Hill and watched sun set from ancient cairn, then scampered back to car in remaining daylight. Had to change clothes for one more meeting on way home.
