As the snow pack begins to soften in northern NH and Maine, I for one would be interested in some trail reports from southern NH. Rather than wallowing around in the snow up here, I'd like to get my feet on some 'terra ferma'.

I'm thinking of places like Green Mt. and Cardigan and others. Monadnock doesn't interest me too much because of the dog restrictions, but I'm sure others would be interested.

If anyone has seen any blades of grass on a mountain top or even a bare rock somewhere, please share the wealth.

I don't have any pigeons left to send out of my ark, so I'm counting on you folks. :)

Wouldn't some snow melt be nice?

I can't help you very much, but I can tell you that Pack Monadnock (2290 feet) and Temple Mountain (slightly lower) are still both snow covered. As a matter of fact, it's actually snowing outside my window right now in Peterborough. The snow pack is certainly starting to melt, but it's still tenaciously holding on.

Given the weather predicitions for this week, I'd expect a good chunk of it to melt, but it'll probably still be a couple of weeks before they're completely snow free (or snow-free enough)

Green Mountain will still have a ways to go before it melts out, but I would expect the Dearborn Trail should be clear after we get a decent amount of spring weather. Meanwhile, it's snowing.

From rough observations and a couple trip reports, I think about 15 miles south of the MA-NH state line is a rough boundary. Mt Tom is snow-free, Mt Watatic still has snowpack, Wachusett's south side looks pretty bare and we have not had any snowcover (though still not green) in Shrewsbury since St Patrick's Day. Good time to hike CT and RI trails- likely a flower or two.
