4/25/12: Nice day to visit Zealand Ridge!!!!
CAUTION!!! If you are looking for a trip report with spring wildflowers, wild animals (dead or alive), and speed records, this is not that trip report!!!! If I got any of those things, it was definitely by accident!!! For me, this seemed more like a November hike, given the spitting precip and chilly temps but, school vacation falling where it did after a heat wave that wiped out any last hopes I had of some late season skiing, I was just happy the snow squalls weren't downpours!!!! This is just a trip report of Hiker Ed and me getting together for a fun hike since we hadn't hiked together in a while. Of course, Zealand must have been on *someone's* list or it wouldn't have "gotten done" since, depending on my mood, Zealand isn't my favorite place to be.
Ed passing the famous mud puddle near one of the multi-level beaver dam installations. Jeez, they are industrious little fellows, aren't they?
I just love the stairs up to Zealand Hut - all that moss - WOW!!!
The big crossing! See, the water isn't too bad!!!
The new staircase - it was falling down the last time I was there!!!
"The view is over there!" or "That's my next Pemi bushwhack!"
We met up with "Jackrabbit" and I want to say Christa - not sure - please correct me and I'll update this. The cute 100% huskie actually SAT for this shot!!!!
YAY - at the summit sign. The best thing about the summit is the sign. Everyone just HAS to have a picture in front of it!
Zeacliff Pond - it was snowing here.
From the knobby outlook - a unique view to Chocorua.
Back at the Zeacliff outlook - Ed taking in the view - we'll be back!
