It's raining right now, and conditions are expected to continue in the 30s and 40s through the weekend. Shady spots still have knee-deep snow from Nemo, but it's wet coarse granular. I don't think snowshoes would help. By the weekend I expect the bare patches will outweigh the snowy patches, though popular trails may have some hardpack. I'd say leave the snowshoes behind, but bring gaiters and light traction just in case.

PS drop me a line if you're in the Blue Hills...

I was in the Fells with the dogs this morning (parts of Skyline, Reservoir and Cross-Fells trails) - unless we get a lot of snow in the next few days, there will be no need for snowshoes. Traction, yes, since the snow has gotten packed down and slippery in places, but you will also be going over some bare rock and mud.

Ok, make that "light traction and Wellies" - today's conditions included loose granular, icy packed snow, ice, slush, mud, mud/slush soup, bare rock, standing water.

Still a heck of a lot more fun than the walk to the T to go to work!
