What I'd like to do for Memorial Day is to head over the border and try something new. Has anyone hiked in New Brunswick? I can find info on Mt Carleton, but I can't find much on Fundy National Park. There's one op 1985 guide on Amazon and not much info on the Fundy Park site. Is that because there's not much hiking in FNP? Any info on hiking in this region gratefully appreciated.

We often visit FNP (and somewhat nearby Hopewell Rocks Prov. Park) on our way to family in Nova Scotia. Fundy NP is a nice park -- though a bit different from what you might expect (e.g. there is a golf course and playgrounds). There are hiking trails (something like 100k), including some to backcountry camping sites (call in advance). There's a loop trail that's about 50k called the Fundy Circuit. There are freshwater lakes for paddling and swimming, plus the ocean.

If you've ever been to Quoddy State Park in ME, Fundy is like that in topography but much bigger (and less foggy). There are numerous interesting pocket coves with piles of old-growth driftwood over streams set into cobbles.

Great birding, if you're into that.

Was in Fundy Mon, Tue, Wed

I just got back from Fundy N.P. yesterday. Had a blast, it barely rained a drop! I did a buck of hikes, mostly the smaller ones, because I wanted to get a feel for the area. There are some longish/harder hikes, but nothing like you'll get in the Whites. Still, it's a great take. Good place for biking too. Some things to know about the area;

- Gas is 93 cents a litre which comes out to about $3.50/gallon. Gas up in Maine before you leave the states.

- The food is lousy, like it is everywhere in the Maritimes. They deepfry EVERYTHING and fresh fruits/veggies are hard to find.

- For now, the streams and lakes are closed to fishing for some reason.

- You'll have the place to yourself. There's no one there till mid-June.

Any other specific quesstions, just ask or email me.
