Date of Hike: July 19, 2008
Trail Conditions: Used many Trails- Lower Airline and Shortline in good shape, little mud. Kings Ravine Trail and Chemin Des Dames boulders were a little slick so we used very careful footing. Upper Airline and Gulfside in great shape, rocks pretty dry. Spur trail some slick rocks and roots, remainder nice and dry (E Randolph, Amphibrach, Sylvan Way)
Special Equipment Required: Used gaitors, poles a hindrance going up Kings Ravine and Chemin, otherwise useful. Rain gear carried but not needed. Bug spray- bugs were especially anmoying on the descent. Rols had bug wipes that helped quite a bit.
Comments: Did not summit- No views from Adams. Other than Airline and Gulfside all new trails; a day of exploration. Thunder chased us out into Appalaichia, but we never had rain until we got back to the car.
Some pix here if interested--
