So, I'm kind of toying with the idea of doing a Southern Presis point-to-point this weekend. Start on Ammo Ravine, up to Lakes, down to Nauman to camp, then out via Jackson on Sunday, finishing at Highland Center. I'd like to leave the car at Highland Center and find a ride to Ammo Ravine trailhead Saturday morning. Anyone ever tried to hitch a ride for this section? Any other ideas? It would just be me, so not possible to car spot...

Hitching is highly unlikely to work as from the Highland Center the direct route is Mt Clinton Road to the Base Road, and Mt Clinton Road is not going to be open to traffic for the season yet. So either you commit yourself to walking on a closed road (whose surface suitability to walking may vary), or you walk the LONG way around (302 back to Fabyan's to the Base Road) trying to flag down traffic.

I think you're better off going to HC early and walking around the parking lot asking for a ride, rather than roadside hitching, at least this time of year.
