Hiked the Hoffman Notch Trail from the north trailhead to Big Marsh. Trail conditions were good. There were only a couple small patches of snow in shady spots. Most of the trail was dry, and what mud there was was not a problem. (It looked like the trail was probably a lot wetter recently.) There were no skeeters or black flies to worry about. The only issue was crossing Hoffman Notch Brook about 2/3 thirds of the way to Big Marsh. The brook was flowing very strongly. The rocks above water were spaced farther apart than I was comfortable hopping. Someone braver might have tried tightroping over some of the logs. I elected to stay on the west bank of the brook and bushwack until the trail crossed back to the side I was on, about 300 yards upstream. This was a pretty easy hike and it's a good time of year to see the Notch since the leaves aren't blocking the view.
Special equipment needed - none really.
