Trail Conditions: Hough via Lillian Brook is VERY well broken. Hough to South Dix (Carson) is broken, but because of wind it might be hard to find the path. We did a few loop-de-loops trying to stay on track, so after Pough if you are looking for the right one, stay left. The snow is deep, even with the broken trail. And as usual, the trees are thick. From Carson to East Dix (Grace) the trail is also broken, but the snow is still deep and the wind could drift across the trail again. Carson to Macomb very well broken, a good hard pack. Slid on Macomb is icy with a small layer of hard-packed snow on top. From Elk lake to the base of all four is well broken.

Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes-essential for Hough-Carson & Carson - Grace. Still a good idea for Macomb and Hough. Crampons would be a very good idea for the slide on Macomb, and even an ice axe if you have it. Other wide, snowshoes with a good crampon system will be adequate.

Comments: TRAIL NOT BROKEN BETWEEN DIX AND HOUGH! A group tried, but it was too challenging. Also, it snowed lightly all morning, so there will be a layer of fresh powder on all the trails.
