We took the Becker Hollow Trail up and did the loop around the top. Great views from the western lookout and the tall former fire tower, which was open thanks to a volunteer who was up there all weekend at the cabin. The trails are in great condition, other than about a 1/10 mile stretch of BHT somewhere above the concrete dam in the stream and below the steeper, rockier part. The trail is mainly a sidehill trail which drains itself, but that stretch has some streams and/or springs running into the trail, which make it a wet, muddy, leafy, slippery mess. It could use some waterbars (there might have been one-couldn't tell), although they might be difficult to build with all those rocks in the ground. The upper part of the BHT has a lot of loose small to medium sized rocks. The flying insect zoo was mostly houseflies (?) which don't bite and only pester you inadvertently. The black flies, mosquitoes, and gnats were far less numerous and only a little bit hungry. Trail doggies, you'll like this route, except for the 9-level tower. It was a summer hike but it could have been even warmer, more humid, and buggier so it was a great day.
