Set off from Devils' Tombstone during white out @ 9:30 a.m. Initial rocky ledges ICY w/3" of powder concealing danger! Cleats or crampons HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Trail to lean-to steep as ever and very slippery w/hidden ice frequently! Flats out to lean-to not bad. Lean-to clean and serviceable... balsam boughs for fragrance, i assume. Trail to Hunter peak suffering from erosion, footing cranky. I wore snowshoes above lean-to... not necassary for snow depth, but helped prevent ankle twist. Views from the top outstanding! Snow squal coming in from west changed all that! Snowed briefly. Then snowed all the way out from lean-to. Group exiting before me had beaten down the trail. Treacherous exit on slippery concealed surface! Again, do not do this trail without proper foot gear!
