Has anyone been in Huntington ravine lately? I want to know if Central Gulley has enough snow/ice for a simple climb.

was in the ravine in Yale a couple of weeks ago.

Not sure how the trail filled in from then to now and how much traffic has been in there , but the approach to the fan sucked a couple weeks back.

It took us probably 2 hours to get from the first aid cache in the ravine to the top of the fan. (normally a 30 minute easy hike!) Hopefully, the snow has filled in the rocks, gaps, etc...

My guess (and this is a guess - lots can change in 2 weeks) is that climbing conditions are good, but you will have to watch avy conditions. You probably know this, but central is not a place you want to be when avy conditions are prime to slide.

Swing by the harvard cabin on your way in and talk to the caretaker, he will have good beta on the conditions.

I usually don't bother with the ravines unless the rangers mark the danger as Low. It looks like it may be a nice climb soon.
