Anyone have any info on the water level in Indian Pass Brook after the past days of rain? Would it be passable this weekend for a hike to Street and Nye?

Thanks for the info.

I doubt it's passable!

I was descending Big Slide today and Slide Brook is NOT passable - I had to bushwhack along the left side after one hairy crossing, I didn't jeopardize my life by attempting the additional trail/stream crossings. The water levels are incredible!!! Most of the trail after The Third Brother was over my ankles and some parts were over my knees!

Be careful!!

PS Roaring Brook, on Giant, was awesome!

I've hiked along Indian Pass Brook in the 24 hours after a big rain (2 inches), headed towards Marshall. Hell, we found all the little brooks coming off the McIntyre range that feed into Indian Pass Brook WERE BARELY passable at that time. Indian Pass Brook, forget it, in kayaking parlance it was class 5 rapids.

All the northern tributaries of a substantial 5000' foot range drain into it, it can rise pretty quick. I'm told it falls almost as quickly, so provided the rain abates within a few hours and there is a good 36-40 hours without rain, it might lower enough to get over.

Have alternative plans ready though. It only takes 30-40 minutes to get there (from the LOJ), so if you check it out and it's still too high, you can still find an alternate destination.
