I completely agree. Mt. Hight has the best views of the entire Carter-Moriah Range. The views of the Presies, Baldface, Mahoosucs, and on into Maine are incomparable.sierra said:In my most humble of opinions, MT. Height is the best peak in the Carter Range.
One of the best reason's for finishing the standard 4k's, is that your then free to climb mountains for the best reason, because you want to.

Wouldn't ... every ... mountain be on that list?Double Bow said:I'm currently working on the "Mountain I Haven't Climbed and Moutains I Have Climbed" list. Hight is on there!
There is a reasonable amount of winter traffic up to Mt. Height and Carter Dome, so it is likely to be broken out. The trail isn't hard to follow. It is also protected up to the ridge between the two peaks. If you are comfortable with winter soloing, I wouldn't worry too much about it.MichaelJ said:It's do-able, and I intend to return sometime and actually make it up there, but if you don't know the geography (ie, "the trail should be *here* and going *there*") it could be iffy, and it will certainly be slow and very risky for a solo.

Obviously someone has to be first after every snowstorm...MichaelJ said:Not when I was there. There really were drifts in the 8'-11' range going right up over the trail and the surrounding scrub, and it was completely unbroken. I'd say that if there's a weekday snow or windstorm, don't be the first ones up on Saturday. Wait for Sunday so that us fools have broken it out already.
It's on 3 out of 4 of these lists:dug said:It does, it just depends on which list you use.
