Date hiked: March 10, 2008

Trail Conditions: Ice crusted trail, many downed trees, easy to walk around as trail is obvious.

Special Equipment: Snowshoes with cleats, gaiters

Comments: Hikers wanting to get into the Hogtown area should be aware that it is only a matter of time before Buttermilk Falls/Sly Pond/ Shelving Rock Road may be closed down. The road is becoming very rutted and pot holed from the spring thaw. Today I had intended to go to the end of the road to climb Shelving Rock Mountain, and the part of the the road beyond the Upper Hogtown trailhead was closed down by National Grid, as they were clearing trees and downed power lines from the recent ice storm. I hiked into Inman Pond as my "second" option.
