Another botched attempt on Mt. Isolation, this time I did not even get to the Wilderness Boundary sign about 2.8 miles in. Bleak.
I broke trail on excellent xc skiing conditions from NH 16 to about the 2.5 mile mark. After that, you're on your own. I spent three hours skiing around looking for the trail - nearly every tree is blazed orange, yellow, or blue. Most of those without blazes are flagged with pink, blue, and orange surveyor's tape.
Bailed and skied on the Hall Trail for a couple of hours, a much more tame experience.
