After failing to summit on the 19th I returneth
Off to an early(8:11) start Off up the trail, wearing my small snowshoes w/poles and in no time am sweating like a pig...do they really sweat???
Thanks to RickB, Michael and Sarah, Giff, Gary and Georg for breakin out the Engine Hill Bushwhack on Tuesday, which was a breezy w/couple damp spots
Hung right on Isolation Trail, easily avoided a couple stream crossings(thanks again). There was a bit of not tough bushwhacking nearing the Davis Path intersection w/a couple blowdowns. Davis Path was in great shape and soon reached the spur. The short distance to the summit was a bit steep but in good shape... Even had some decent limited views Had taken 3:29 w/out rushing! After a few pix went back to jct w/Davis, changed from the waist up and chowed down.
Decision time!?!?!? Go back the way I came or try to find where I ended my bushwhack a week ago As it was only 11:46, I headed south on Davis. It was unbroken and about 12"-18" deep, but easily followed and in great shape!. Went about 1/2 mile and headed into the THICK brush(I highly recommend against this!), checking the GPS location occassionally and then...MY OLD TRACKS Yahoo!!!
Tracks were pretty well filled in and lost them couple times then just headed east to the Isolation Trail. I'd come out about halfway between the shelter and Engine Hill Bushwhack. Turned left and was soon back to where I'd 1st joined the IT
Followed back the way I'd come and to trailhead 7 hours and 24 minutes after starting...#71 NEHH Solo Winter
