Trail Conditions: Trails were mainly dry, although muddy portions on all trails. I got the sense that Rocky Branch and Isolation trails at this end would be very wet in the spring or in a rainy time.
Stream crossings all quite doable with rock hopping/dry boots.
Very nice summit here with great views.
Special Equipment Required: Bug spray--most of this hike is in the woods and very grassy/mossy areas. Lots of flies, but DEET will keep them at bay. Poles recommended--big portions of the trail seem to be on an old riverbed so there's lots of balancing on rocks.
Comments: Optional - We did this as an overnight, staying near the Rocky Branch Shelter #2. We set up tents a bit away from the shelter. Another person stayed in the shelter itself. Yes, it's decrepit, but still very much usable. Many people on the trail both days doing this as part of their 48.
Saw huge male moose in parking lot (and nearby woods) after the hike.,
