Date of Hike: 12/29/07
Trail Conditions: The Jewel Trail had about 6" of new snow, partially packed out by snowshoers and postholed by barebooters. Several blowdowns, nothing serious. The Gulfside Trail alternated between exposed rock and knee deep drifts.
Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes on the Jewel Trail, crampons or Stabilicers above treeline. Poles were helpful due to the high winds today.
Comments: A challenging day due to the high winds and very low visibility but that's part of the fun of above treeline travel in winter!
