date: 3.18.08
conditions: packed snow down low. rock, ice, snow above treeline. same on gulfside to summit.
equipment: full winter, but was incredibly mild with little or no wind all day. very warm as well. snowshoes good for jewell a bit above treeline. then barebooted for a bit and switched to crampons just below gulfside. crampons good from gulfside to summit especially on snowfields on the west side of clay.
comments: a great day for the final hike of this calendar winter. have been waiting for a day like this for jefferson. great views and spring like conditions. a real relaxing trip. lots of folks out today. great to meet tom and atticus and let them know that i am not an axe murderer.
