Trails: Jewell, Gulfside, Trinity Connector, Crawford Path, Ammoonusuc Ravine

Conditions: We were the first on Jewell today. It had about 2 to 3 inches of fresh powder. We put on snow shoes just before the trail started to climb and left them on to the Gulfside Trail. The trail is well broken out and has a firm base. Along the Gulfside to Jefferson, some of us switched to Crampons. Lots of ice. Some drifts on the Gulfside, but not very deep. There's not much snow on the ridge right now. The climb to Washington was ice, ice, and more ice with styrofoam in the right places. Crawford down to the hut was again ice, ice, and more ice. The climb to Monroe had some ice and packed snow. The ammo was in good shape with ice but a well packed out trail.

What a day on the Presis' No wind and beautiful warm sunny skies. A great day out, as usual, with Hiker Ed, Bruce, Steve, Mike, and Paul.

Met up with some familiar faces today, but really not that many people out on such a great day.
