Have never hiked Jennings Peak or Sandwich Dome but have heard good word of mouth and was planning on this hike in the next week.

Does anyone have any info on the water crossings? how many? are they a non-issue or possible pain to cross?

Planning the Sandwich Mtn Tr and Drakes Brook Tr from what I have heard. Thanks!

Both crossings can be challenging at high water.

The Mt. Sandwich Trail crosses Drake's Brook close to the road, so it is easy to walk a hundred yards or so down the road, cross the brook on the bridge, and bushwhack to the trail (just follow the brook).

I have not been there recently, so can say nothing about how easy or otherwise the crossing on Drake's Brook Trail is. There is still a lot of snow on the mountains, and with the high temps we are having I would expect lots of water!

I've never had an issue with any of the water crossings -- but as Mohamed has mentioned, a short bushwhack is always an option.

Do a search on this site and you'll pull up a number of previous posts on the subject -- there's some gold to be mined from these...

did this hike a couple aprils ago and the crossing was ripping. i wouldn't have wanted to try to make it. the bushwack in from the road is short and easy.
a nice hike. have fun.

Did this on 4/24/10.

No issues with either crossing. They were both easily crossed without getting wet. (I went up Sandwich Mt Trail and descended Drake Brook Trail)

Several people were out that day, so you might check the Trip Reports or Trail Conditions forum. Also, I ran into Rocket21 on the trail, so visit http://www.newenglandtrailconditions.com/nh/ and see whether he posted anything.
