Jennings Peak via Smarts Brook Trail

This is a beautiful trail that doesn't appear to get much use. Reasons for believing this is the fact that the trail has nice rich organic layer with very little evidence of erosion problems apparent on more heavily traveled trails. We did notice some poorly drained sections that could use some ditch etc on portion of the trail inside the Wilderness Boundary. There are some blowdown patches in spruce beyond the last stream crossing at head of the valley that were bit difficult to negotiate. They're mostly small diameter spruce that can be quickly dealt with by a small crew equipped with bow saws. We observed scattered patches of snow up on the ridge where Smarts Brook Trail meets Sandwich Mt Trail.
