Trails: airline, short line, king ravine trail, air line, rock whack, air line, scar trail, scar loop, scar trail, valley way.

Trails were in great shape throughout with only occasional short muddy sections and nothing requiring walking around. Scar Trail has one tricky scramble and tough footing in spots though but is otherwise a joy for the feet since few use it.

Special equipment: none really. Bugs were not bad and never used spray. Rain gear stayed in pack.

Comments: a great day to be out. Waited out the rain with an extra coffee before hitting the trail at 10. Boulders in King Ravine were slick. Be aware that the footing in this ravine is tricky to say the least with some big steps, a few deep drops, and spots you don't want to slip. The headwall was fine. After scrambling up to the high point on JQ Adams, I respected the rumblings in the clouds, skipped heading up to the true summit, and headed down airline with a detour over Durand Scar as the skies cleared to blue. I never tire of King Ravine, what a special place! And I really enjoyed the unique views of Madison while riding the fin on the summit of JQ.
