Beautiful day. 8:30 am start from Platte Clove Rd trailhead. Opted for northern approach. Beginning of trail marked by 2 large cairns. Poorly marked (but possible to follow - like a puzzle using intuition) trail. Great climb but turned back just short of summit due to too much ice. Never thought to bring crampons - although they would have been serious overkill most of the time - would have reached the summit with them. Returned to car at 4:30 at which time it was 75 degrees. Recommend south summit route until later in season.
