Hiked 3/2/08
Great conditions! Trail was packed powder - awesome for x-country skiing or snowshoeing. No postholes or stream crossing issues or thin spots on the lower section.
There is some flowing water but it's very easily avoidable.
Equipment definitely depends upon the experience you're after - barebooting would have been fine on the packed trail, but off the trail it was deep! A great workout, but snowshoes are necessary if bushwhacking. Sunglasses were necessary today.
Get out there quick - there's rain in the forecast.
By the way, every hiker we met had a dog (or 2) with them. If you have dog-on-trail issues, just a heads up - it seems to be a very popular dog walking spot.
