Ok, so I'm mostly a lurker on this site. But this trip deserves a report I believe.
I read somewhere on here that this was "an easy" wack, or a good "beginners wack". Well, I perhaps am the unluckiest wacker then. After failing to get to the summit last fall solo due to threatening skies, I returned with a friend and a different route in mind. In the fall, I had ascended the ridge from the west shoulder, across the street from the parking/view area. This proved to be thick scrub and really slow going. This time, we ascended from the east shoulder to the smaller east knob, and then cut northwest up to the NHHH peak. This also proved to contain large pockets of thick scrub, and some really nasty blowdown patches. Although there were some good views from the root balls of the trees in these patches.
We descended on a straight-line north and again hit relentlessly thick scrubby sections. Ended up in the same small stream bed I followed out the previous trek and this provided some muddy relief from the scrub. Seems no one has been here since January according to the log. Off to bag some trailed peaks until my numerous puncture wounds heal.
