I'm curious about the ridge that runs from the Bulge to Hutchins Mtn. Somebody on this board must have 'whacked it. I'm thinking specifically about heading from the Bulge to peak about halfway along which, according to my AMC map, appears to be open. And I'm thinking about doing it in winter. I'm guessing from the elevation of the ridge that it's going to be nasty with spruce/fir but thought I'd mine the collective VFTT consciousness before I ruled it in or out.

that's a heck of a trip, but...

I've done the section from the south pek of the pilot range to Hutchins and all but the section up Hutchins from the last col is very decent. there's a trail from the Sloats' cabin in S.0Middle Pilot col to the outh peak that extends somewhat farther. didn't follow it to the end.

let us know how it works out.

Is this the trail mentioned in the WMG that is an extension of the old logging road that comes up from Lost Nation Road? Also, in looking at the Topozone map, it appears the logging road/trail heads toward the 3615 peak, not the 3570 one. Is the Mount Mary Trail simply not depicted in Topozone?
