Date of Hike: 11/15/14
Trail Conditions: Snow from bottom to top, but no more than 4 inches at any point. Once on the steeper climb away from the brook, snow on top of leaves was a bit slick, but manageable without traction. Some patches of ice on the Long Trail portion and one or two very small ones on the summit spur. Trail was in great shape with no real maintenance issues to note.
Special Equipment Required: I put on an old pair of microspikes just before the Long Trail on the way up, mainly because the snow on leaves was a bit slick (but not bad). Left them on until back down to Brewer Brook on the descent just for added security while coming down quickly. Multiple others had microspikes, but bare boots would work right now too.
Comments: A great day for a hike to an open summit. Temp was 11 degrees with a -4 wind chill, but didn't feel that bad with good layers. Noise from snow making and the chairlift being in operation took away from the solitude of the summit some. Had the summit to myself beating most of the hikers up this morning.
