it was cold up there but not that bad. I guess I made a good choice because the trail was broken the whole way. i guess an amc group went up there, quite a few people were going up to south kinsman and back. now that the hut is open lots more people are up on those summits bagging peaks.

went up to lonesome lake
up fishin jimmy, few inches of snow on the ice, couple nasty spots but can be worked around. definitely bring crampons.
north kinsman at 2:02. absolutely gorgeous!!! could see forever. there were a few inches of newsnow up there, maybe a little more, but it had all been booted. i went up with koflachs and foot fangs. nasty blisters on my heels from the back of my feet sliding up and down in the boots.

parking lot 4:48 5 hour hike. if it wasnt so cold again id have taken a picture.
started snowing when i hit lonesome lake hut on the way down, nasty drive home.

Must have passed you on our way down. We only did North Kinsman, but was a nice hike.

yes i remember seeing you. i was in blue polypro. i always hike hot. everybody else had a lot of clothes on. i might have been with a couple, guy with blonde hair and the woman he was with. i met them on way up. it was cold up there today but gorgeous

From looking at the trail conditions I now realize I also met "Suzy (Zion)" briefly at the hut.

I was with the AMC group and had a great time. I'd recommend joining there hikes if you are looking for a grou to hike with sometime.

I had forgotten the lonesome lake hut is open now too. It was late or I would have checked it out. I have hiked quite a bit at times with AMC, turned out nice that the trail was all broken from people going up the same day. Guess I timed that right. I have this whole week off and I think its not going to be so easy now with snow. I'm trying to find snow totals.

3D Topo Maps on your site

Hey Bob & Geri,

Are those 3D topo map images from your GPS of did you import the flat map into some software to render it for you? Id like to make some of those for the hikes ive done too.

Hey Kasym

The 3d images are from the Maptech charting software we use. You can toggle the current screen you are viewing to be a 3d view, then rotate the image in all directions.
