Trails: Mt. Kinsman, Kinsman Ridge

Conditions: Frozen granular to hockey rink to soft granular to ice cream to slush. As the day wore on, the snow got softer.

Equipment: Traction a must for first mile of Mt. Kinsman Trail, as there are several extended stretches of hard ice (the snow off-trail is soft, ideal for post-holing). Up higher I was happy in snowshoes, though some other hikers I met on the trail had stayed in Microspikes.

Brook crossings: Not yet an issue. Blowdowns: one on the Mt. Kinsman Trail between the Bald Peak spur and the ridge (a crawl-under), the other between North and South Kinsman on the KRT (a short walk-around).

Trailhead parking: The snow is now gone, so there's plenty of roadside parking.
