Bare ground until about 3500 feet, then rotting monorail for a short while. No blowdowns that caused a problem. Georg barebooted the entire hike while I used MSR's to avoid postholing(almost 80 pounds heavier) & for traction. Summits of both peaks have some baregound. On descent met group of 7-8 from the Putney School in Vermont. They planned to stay at Eliza Brook. One hiker in sneakers(boots had been stolen the day before) - oh, to be young again!
