Trail Conditions: There were some stretches of mud, but it was all frozen today. Light snow cover above 2000'. Ice flows and glazed rocks getting more prolific. MicroSpikes strongly recommended, esp above 3500'. I managed to bareboot to the North summit, but realized it would be a lot easier to break down and just don the Spikes for the balance of the ridge walk and first half of the descent.

I declare herewith this day to be Opening Day of the MicroSpikes on 4000-footers Season!

Separately: My first use of the Mt. Kinsman Trail. Such a civilized and nicely graded alternative to Fishin Jimmy or the KRT. I second the kudos from the 11/3 report - trail adopters are doing a great job! Sparkling clear day with all the associated views.
