Indeed yes! Kudos to forestgnome!

Although I have never been in the position of needing a rescue for myself or anyone I have hiked with, I have no problem with paying a fee instituted for hikers to help defray the cost of NH hiker rescues. I have never hunted and have not fished in the past 35 years, but see no reason why I shouldn't contribute to the NHFG in such a way. Perhaps the subject of another thread but it seems to me that NHFG should be renamed New Hampshire Fish, Game and Hiking.

That's fantastic, Patrick.

We heard and saw that helicopter go over the Owl's Head slide on Sat, so we figured something was going on that afternoon/evening.

Glad you were able and willing to lend your helping hands. I'm sure your efforts were very much appreciated! :)

Very nice Patrick! Sure makes us all appreciate the efforts of those volunteers more when you think about the actual efforts involved!

I'll say. Some of the SAR who came off the Jefferson rescue then proceeded to the Garfield rescue, which went on all Saturday night until 7 a.m. Sunday. But that's what SAR does: whatever it takes to get the injured off the mountain. Kudos to all involved.

Thanks Sardog1 for starting this thread.

According to Wikipedia: “Gnomes are traditionally thought of as being small, bearded and wearing pointed, colourful, conical hats. They live in natural areas close to the Earth and care for wildlife.”

Other than the first bit (i.e. the part about being small, bearded and wearing a pointed hat:)), I think the second part of the definition pretty well fits our beloved Forestgnome!

Thanks Patrick for all your fine contributions to the VFTT forum, and a special thanks for your willingness to lend a helping hand to the situation you encountered on Mt. Jefferson over this past weekend.
