Lafayette and Garfield: 8-15-13
Ascent: Greenleaf Trail, Garfield Ridge Trail
Descent: Garfield Trail
Trail Conditions: The Greenleaf trail was in good shape with minimal mud and looked far less traveled than the other trails leading to Lafayette and Lincoln. The Garfield Ridge Trail had some muddy sections in the col and lower areas between Lafayette and Garfield. The Garfield trail was in excellent condition and its easy grades were enjoyed by many people of all ages.
Special Equipment Required: N/A
Comments: I hiked this one with a carspot from Dehydrator. He wanted to add a small section to his AT total so we opted for a less traveled route and omitted Lincoln and Galehead. We saw many Thru-Hikers on their way to Katahdin and a few late season AT folks who were getting a late break on a north to south journey. Another amazing view from Garfield but Lafayette was windy and mostly socked in.
