Conditions: Old Bridle Path in the AM was pretty solid with maybe an inch or two of windblown powder in spots...snowshoes, bareboots, and light traction were all used with no adverse effect on the track..
Greenleaf had a couple powdery spots near the hut but once up above it was windblown styrofoam snow with a few icy spots...the cairns were rime ice and snow covered and in whiteout conditions it must be difficult to stay on trail..light traction fine again (there was one snowshoer up there too)...
Franconia Ridge: mostly hard packed windblown and a couple deep drifts in the usual areas, again light traction fine...not as much ice as expected..
Falling Waters: again, in whiteout conditions, one could see it could be difficult to actually find the trail as it descends to tree line...FW was softer in the PM, but barebooting and light traction did not damage the track...about a 50/50 ratio of snowshoers and barebooters/traction...water crossings fine..
Great viewing conditions today, the window of opportunity arose for a perfect hiking day and we were lucky enough to get up there before any adverse weather started coming in...thanks to Priscilla and Michelle for traveling up and not hiking to fast today!!!! Lefty E
