I had that hike in mind for a long time but I was too busy with
others hike to do it. On thursday I decided to do it this weekend,
soo saturday june 14th I went for it with my 50 liter pack....
I started at 5:00 am from the campground and follow the Falling water
trail to the ridge. Lots of fine waterfall but not for today.
I reached the ridge before 7:00 am and it was warm and the wind was
just a bit refreshing. On Lincoln summit the view was good but not very
far since it has lot of smog in the air. At the summit of Lafayette lots of
small black clouds came. I decided to continued in direction of Garfield,
at this time I was not sure until where I would go. At the summit of Garfield
I was more tired than last summer on the pemiloop day but i decided to
continued to Galehead hut. After a break at the hut I went and summit
Galehead mt with any pack.
From Galehead hut to the summit of South twin I find the uphill harder and
harder but I kept going and soon I was on the summit. Another good break
and some refreshing wind. Going down to guyot and it was very hot and no
wind. On Guyot it was not windy and it was sunny...
I never went before from Guyot to Zealand hut and it was harder than I
expected and more rocks, roots, etc. Finally I reached Zealand hut at 4:30 pm,
lots of people was relaxing before diner. After a short break and a good refrest in the brook I continued in direction of Crawford Notch. The uphill
till the col of Tom-Field seem to go for ever since I was tired of that long
day. At 7:00 I was at the Col and very happy to only have some downhill
to do before Crawford. Couple of up and down again but no problem.
At 8:15 pm I was at the train depot and I traverse the road, put out the
trail runner and I put my feet in the water. It was soo good and I relaxed
for 45 minutes on the side of the lake.
I slept on two small bench and at 4:30 I went in the Highland center
and I asked the desk employee about the Shuttle bus. He offer me a lift
to Lafayette since he leave in Lincoln, NH. At 8:30 am I was back at my
van and I made it....
