A few days ago, on another forum, the subject of larches changing color came up. That reminded me that there is a fine collection of larches on the northern and western shores of Lonesome Lake. Today I was in the mood for a short hike, so up to Lonesome Lake I went.

I went round the lake (counterclockwise) taking lots of photos. I was a bit disappointed in the color ... they were all a rather washed out yellow. Still a pleasant contrast from the more common types of foliage.

Here is one larch:

A few more here.

Anyone want to share their larch photos?

Love larches...they actually may peak a bit later, and the color may not be all the way in yet. Pondicherry is a go to larch place!

Thanks for posting these Mohamed. We were obviously looking at them last week and were totally oblivious. Beautiful trees.

Very nice photos..in this area (northern NH) we call larch "tamarack"...in Algonguin lingo, guess it means "wood of the snowshoe"...timely post!!!
