The Sucker Brook trail to the base of this 3740' peak was completely untouched, meaning that our party of 6 had to break it by crunching a crust over about 2 feet of snow - moderately hard work.
The bushwhack up the south ridge of Lewey was not as difficult as expected, as the woods there are relatively open, and routefinding was not too difficult. The ridge is fairly well defined, except at the jumping off point at the trail col.
About 30 inches of snow toward the upper elevations. No views to speak of, but there was a definite atmosphere of being in the remote north woods, and the enjoyment of finding the top of a wild peak in winter and savoring the solitude. Unless someone decides to follow our tracks up there, it may be months before Lewey again feels human feet on its soil.
