Falling Waters Trail had a coating of snow, increasing with elevation to a few inches. Lots of ice from Cloudland Falls to the last crossing. Crossings weren't bad with care but the rocks were icy. Franconia Ridge and Osseo Trails had a couple of inches of snow, with little ice. Lower Osseo was dry and beautiful. No serious mud and only a few blowdowns on the trip.
All but one of us wore light traction (Stabilicers/Microspike ST's) and they were fine for the conditions. Bare-booter got by fine, too. We removed them just below Flume.
Wonderful day with good, but hazy, views, comfortable temperatures and a gusty, warm wind. We encountered bear tracks on the trail just below Haystack on the FRT, a first.
