I am going to post a whole report on my recent backpacking trip with my daughters but in the meantime just a heads up to anyone camping in the liberty springs tent site, USE THE BEAR BOXES!!! They are there for a reason, use them. Three bear incidents in two nights is a little nerve wracking to those of us that take care to make sure we don't attract the bears. Also this bear isn't to afraid of people which makes it even worse, one thru hiker was charged by him when trying to spook him away. I got a good look at the bear Thursday night at about 9PM when it tore apart the caretakers tent contents and Cam was screaming at it to scare it away. Pretty sad I was the only person in the site to run down to help him, everyone else ran to put all their crap in the boxes. This bear is easily over 200 pounds. Not a yearling it's an adult bear so be careful up there. The forestry service is going to have to do something about him, the caretaker was going to file a report on the incidences and hopes they do something. He has to deal with the problem long term as well as the next caretaker to take his place.

Sad situation created by humans, seems to be a plague of one bear frequenting the back country sites. A fed bear is a dead bear. Kudos to you for helping the caretaker. I'll keep my comments about inexperienced yahoos invading the tent-sites being a bigger problem than bears in the back country to myself...
