Trails: Falling Waters Trail, Franconia Ridge Trail, Old Bridle Path

Falling Waters Trail stream crossings were high but do-able with boots getting wet. Firm all the way to Little Haystack. Used spikes to the Ridge. The Ridge was mostly bare ground and rock with patches of snow. Not worth the trouble of switching to snow shoes for the short stretches of snow. One just had to make sure they placed their foot in an established foot print.

I put snow shoes on in the scrub just before the hut. Everyone else was bare booting and not making many postholes due to the firm pack, but snow shoes took the guess work out of it. I left them on most of the way back down OBP, not to eliminate postholing, but for the traction. The snow was getting soft and mushy. My MSR Lightnings worked great coming down the steeper sections.

What a great day today with the warm temps and bright sun. Lots of people on the trails today. Wish I had remembered to bring my French/English Phrase book along.

Nice meeting up and talking again with "Lucky Laura" on the trail.
