Route: Little Jackson Trail to the summit of Little Jackson, and back down to the Pond Link Trail, to Tumbledown Pond. Descended via Parker Ridge Trail.
Trail Conditions: running water, standing water, falling water, muddy water... you get the picture. Rocks and roots are slick. Very few blowdowns. There is a somewhat difficult stream crossing on the Pond Link Trail (which is becoming overgrown). Re-crossing that stream on Parker Ridge Trail was more difficult, and we both got our feet wet, but we knew we were close to the car and the beer. All trails appear to have been recently blazed (blue).
Special Equipment Required: gore tex boots. shortie gaiters. trekking poles. rain gear. pack covers.
Comments: Thanks to Matrix for a lovely Independence Day outing. Yes we had rain, particularly on descent, but also some sun, and numerous rain-free hours of hiking. The ceiling was high enough to allow unimpeded views from the summit. This was our first ascent of Little Jackson, a lovely mountain. We would have done Tumbledown as well, but steady rain arrived just as we got to Tumbledown Pond.
